Haemochromatosis is a condition that is so easy to treat, but deadly if not identified early. Strangely, for one of the most common conditions that used to be regularly screened on a general blood test, it is no longer screened for automatically. This leaves people, like my husband, living with unexplained symptoms for decades, that begin to chip away at their physical and mental health. My husband was lucky, the 11th doctor that he saw about his symptoms happened to be familiar with the condition, and did the ferratin blood test after listening to him describe his symptoms. If she hadn't have thought to do that, he may not even be with us today.
Any donation that you can make will help to bring greater awareness of the condition and hopefully make it so that people may end up with an earlier diagnosis and treatment that can both extend their lives and the quality of it!

We’ll see runners back on the AJ Bell Great North Run, city to sea course, on Sunday as we return to our traditional finish line in South Shields. The AJ Bell Great North Run is an opportunity for us all to come together and support one another.
