My Story

Almost a year (to the day!) from my open heart surgery, i'll be taking on the AJ Bell great north run in support of the British Heart Foundation to help raise funds for life saving research.

Without this research, we wouldn't have scientific breakthroughs, and without these scientific breakthroughs, I wouldn't be here. It was a scientific breakthrough that saved my life. I'm able to be here today because of the mechanical valve I have ticking away inside me.

A year ago, I was going through the most difficult period of my life. It has been a physical and emotional rollercoaster. There were days I never thought i'd be able to walk again without pain, so to run a half marathon a year later is something I could have only dreamed of.

I'll be joined at the race by my 5-year-old daughter. She gets to have her Daddy due to a scientific breakthrough. She's my biggest supporter and my little teammate. She'll be running the mini race and raising money alongside me for BHF.

If any of you could donate, no matter how big or small, i'd be forever grateful. I'm full of gratitiude and thanks for the amazing work that has been done that has given me a life. If we can raise as much as possible, it could save so many others.

Thank you
