My Story
This year, I was diagnosed with an Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma which is an extremely rare subtype of sarcoma (cancer). I was lucky enough to firstly, have an amazing GP who acted quickly, a fantastic Gynaecologist and a wonderful surgical team that performed the much needed surgery to remove my uterus-to ensure the sarcoma was removed successfully, in tact. Three monthly scans are needed with Sarcomas due to their ability to recur in other parts of the body such as the pelvis, abdomen and lungs.
Prior to this diagnosis, we'd never heard of this type of cancer, as sarcomas are so unusual, 9/10 people who are referred with suspected sarcoma do not have it. If you feel like something isn't right, especially if you're a woman having any odd gynaecological symptoms, get it checked, it could just save your life.
I've never run a distance like this before (I'm bricking it to be honest) but I'm so determined to raise as much awareness and money as possible for this amazing charity. With my man by my side (probably acting like Monica when Chandler wants to give up) I'll be giving it my absolute everything.
Thank you so much ☺️
