Holly's running for Goalball

My Story

I'm running the Great North Run to raise money for our local Goalball club, Northern Allstars. I also want to face the challenge of running a half marathon as a visually impaired person myself. Goalball is an incredible sport you've probably never heard of, designed for visually impaired/blind people. It's difficult, it's social, and it's incredibly fun. It also gives VI/blind people something accessible to engage in (generally difficult in the North East) and meet similar people.

Northern Allstars Goalball Club is very new and we have little dosh to sustain us long term. We are trying to get as many VI/blind people in the area involved as possible (give us a shout if you know anyone) and keep bringing back those medals! It would be much appreciated if you can donate any amount you can to support us (a little money will go such a long way). Please also share the page to help us to achieve our funding goal as well as to raise awareness of this absolutely fantastic sport.

P.S If you fancy giving goalball a try, it's an inclusive sport with fully sighted people able to play domestically (we all wear a blindfold), so have a look out for your local club. Northern Allstars Goalball Club covers all the North East (and Scotland!), though the Goalball UK site lists all the local teams.. The vid below explains a little more about it.

Goalball is more than the sport itself, it is empowering lives through sport.
