My Story

I am joining Team Helimed 29 to race in the Great North Run 2024 in aid of the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA)!

LNAA is one of the UKs leading Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) charities, funded purely by the generosity of people like you! We are not part of the NHS & therefore not Government funded. With each mission costing an average of £4000, the charity needs to raise in excess of £10 million each year to keep us by your side in your time of greatest need.

Our Doctor, Paramedic & Pilot crew transport the equivalent of an Emergency Department to people suffering from the most serious of illnesses & devastating injuries, providing the best possible treatment as quickly as possible. When every second counts, the arrival of our critical care cars &/ or iconic yellow helicopter really can mean the difference between life & death.

Whilst running for Team Helimed 29, I will be one of a wider team of women working for a variety of air ambulance services UK wide & running the Great North Run 2024 (during Air Ambulance Week!) with the aims of:

  • emphasizing that gender should not be a barrier to a career in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services & encouraging female participation
  • highlighting the mental & physical health benefits of exercise
  • increasing the profile of air ambulance services nationwide

I have the honour of being a HEMS Dr employed by LNAA & on behalf of the charity, would appreciate any donation you feel able to make - every penny will help us to continue providing invaluable pre-hospital emergency medical care to the residents of Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire. Thank you for your support!
