Running the Great North Run for my dad
My Story
Hi, my name is Josh Williams, I am fundraising for Dementia UK for my Dad. Last year my dad was not his usual self, he had been out of character and we the family knew something wasn’t right. We all decided the best thing to do was for dad to get professionally checked over. After multiple doctor visits, consultancy appointments, blood tests & brain scans. It transpired that, my hero, my dad has developed Posterior cortical atrophy (PCA). A rare form of both dementia & Alzheimer’s. My Dad was only 58 years old at the time of diagnosis and it's clear to say the day we all found out, was the worse day of our lives.
Now there's no cure for PCA. But I want to do my part, for my dad, the man who has been there for me all my life. Now it's time for me to be there for him. I want to raise as much awareness & fundraise as much as possible for my dad & other families this horrible disease is affecting. Thats why I have decided to work with Dementia UK, to help fundraise for other families also facing dementia.
