My Story

This year, I have signed up to take part in the GNR for Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter. Don't ask me why, I don't know why. Maybe I am a little crazy, each year I do something for charity and each year I say never again but here I am.

As you all probably know, I am not a runner, I fact I cant think of anything worse but I am hoping to help raise vital funds for the shelter to help look after all those animals they take in each year.

Since having cancer I try each year to find things to do that I would never have done before and in turn raise money for a charity close to my heart. Now I am finally feeling a lot healthier and fitter following cancer treatment, I am ready to do this.

Please help me by donating as much as you can (I know things are tough) and give me the motivation I am really going to need in not just the GNR but in the training for the run in September.

60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the AJ Bell Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon – famous for its warm North East welcome, unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes.

We’ll see runners back on the AJ Bell Great North Run, city to sea course, on Sunday as we return to our traditional finish line in South Shields. The AJ Bell Great North Run is an opportunity for us all to come together and support one another.

If you're unable to run and have to withdraw from the 2024 AJ Bell Great North Run, you have the option to defer your 2024 AJ Bell Great North Place to the next year.  You can find more information here.
