Newcastle Castle Accessibility Fundraiser

Newcastle Castle

My Story

Newcastle Castle is a vital piece of North East England's heritage, and we want to ensure that as many people as possible can visit, experience and learn about the important historical site which gave the city its name.

To do this, we're fundraising to develop new experiences for visitors with limited mobility or visual impairments. Every donation will be reinvested into allowing visitors to see, hear and touch the entirety of the Castle Keep without having to leave our accessible ground-floor room.

This could be a 360-degree virtual tour, a tactile 3D model of the building, immersive audio experiences, and even a live feed of the view from our famous rooftop. There is so much we could do!

Sir Runs-A-Lot

To raise these funds, our very own Sir Runs-A-Lot will be taking part in the Great North Run 2024, and you will decide how much armour he will wear. We have thirteen donation targets, and every time we hit a target, Sir Runs-a-lot will wear another piece of armour.

The more you donate, the more he wears, and the heavier he will be, so please be generous!
