My Story

I am running the GNR in September. I am doing this for the amazing MS society.

As many of you may know my sister Erin was diagnosed with MS in October 2022.

She woke up one day in August of 2022 and had no feeling in her feet, which led to hospital trips and hours of waiting to try and understand what was happening. Unfortunately, everything got worse, and she was unable to feel anything from her waist down. From that day, Erin has been unable to walk unaided. In August 2022 she was diagnosed with MS, it was a relief for her to finally have some answers, but as you can imagine was a big shock to everyone within the family that this was happening. There are many other symptoms that Erin has to deal with every day, but she still gets up and carries on with her life.

Erin has shown immense strength and courage throughout this full journey, I am so proud of her. She has her son Rory who she has shown how powerful and strong she is, and we know how proud Rory is of her as he tells me all the time. MS impacts not only the person diagnosed but those around them, but we as a family will do everything we can to help Erin and Rory, it has been heartbreaking at times but also full of laughter (one being trying to run up a hill while pushing her in a wheel chair, or her walking like a sim who’s pregnant on her crutches)  and triumphs, for example, every week at her physio when she’s getting a little stronger each time.

I want to run for this amazing charity because of how much they do for those who are diagnosed with MS, not only for their research, but for the support they give to people, Erin can reach out at any time when she is feeling low and there is someone there to help her.

Another reason I want to run is because Erin was set to do the great north run in the September of 2022, she was excited and pushing herself for a new challenge, but unfortunately her diagnosis put an end to that. I shall cross that finish line for Erin and hopefully raise some money for this amazing charity. I understand how hard times are for people at the moment, so please do not feel inclined to donate.

Thank you all for reading it means a lot to me x
