My Story

I am Registered severely sight Impaired and have Retinitis Pigmentosa which means I have limited sight. It has been a long journey to adapt how I navigate the world as my level of sight has reduced over the years.

I have been supported by many people over the years to come to terms with my condition and feel it is time to give something back, so after finding someone (Chris Mitchell) daft enough to be tethered to a blindman while running a half marathon from the city to the sea past lots of hazards and people to crash into I will be running the Great North Run on September 8th2024 in order to raise money to support the Blind Veterans UK charity.

Blind Veterans UK are fantastic at helping people with sight loss live their best life and the support is life long with a massive focus on the social elements that are often lost when leaving the services.

About Blind Veterans UK

Blind Veterans UK provide veterans with rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support.

There transformational team believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. Together they can help rebuild lives after sight loss.

They help blind ex-Servicemen and women of every generation. Since 1915, they have provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans.

Together we can help rebuild blind veterans’ lives after sight loss. Away from isolation. Towards a life of fulfilment.
