My Story
I have been given a place in this years AJ Bell Great North Run & I am pleased to be representing Diabetes UK, I will be doing this in memory of my father in law Rob Young.
Around the times of Covid-19 Rob was diagnosed with Diabetes little did we know 2 years or so later we was going to lose not just my father in law but a Dad of 6 his wife Penny and his 9 beautiful grandchildren, this has left the family with the biggest part of our hearts missing.
Since Rob was diagnosed with diabetes he deteriorated very quickly he went from a happy healthy man to being unwell most days, complaining he was in pain with all parts of his body, it got to a point were he was missing his beloved Preston North End play with being so ill and drained.
unfortunately Rob lost his battle on 14th November 2022, so now this is mine and the family's. time to try and spread the awareness we did not get as a family and raise as much money as possible.
Football was one of Robs favourite things to do that was going to his Club Preston to watch them & this was also playing Sunday league football where he was the guy with the most banter & taking the mick out of you, Robs the only player I know to say he’s going to score direct from a corner not once but twice in the same game, winding the opposition goalkeeper up saying same spot as last time.
I have raised over £2700 so far for diabetes from family fundays to other things, I have plans for big events taking place over the next year or so all in the aim of raising funds for Diabetes UK.
The Money already raised is from past events I have done for diabetes in memory of Rob.
I don’t plan stopping anytime soon I want to keep pushing for him.
Any support/help possible would be honestly gratefully appreciated
